Representatives of the European Commission and the Ministry of Regional Development visited Astrobase in Gniewkowo. They Checked how EU funds are spent for this purpose.
10 December 2014, to the Astrobase in Gniewkowo arrived about 30 people from the Monitoring Committee of Human Capital Operational Programme of the European Commission and the Ministry of Regional Development. This is one of a series of study visits to the places which were created thanks to EU funds. Astrobase in Gniewkowo made a big impression on the participants of the meeting, who visited her curiously.
Kuyavian-Pomeranian's astrobases were built through the former project "Regional wheel physical, mathematical, computer, astronomical," promoting science and astronomy.
Observatories are in small towns and cities, among others Znin, Gostycyn, Inowrocław, Swiecie, Unisław. Each looks the same: a circular building with a diameter of 10 m and a height of 8 m. In the middle is the control with computers , platform with a movable of telescope with dome and observation deck. Construction and equipment of one astrobase claimed almost 300 thousand PLN. All 14 cost of 4.2 million PLN. 65 per cent this amount gave the union. Using the astrobase is free.
